Dyson has just revealed more information about the Dyson Zone. The headphones with a built-in air purifier were announced earlier this year. Many people thought it was an April fools joke, but it turned out not to be the case.
Dyson Zone: Air purifier headphones
After five years of research and development, Dyson has created an air purifier headset. With this, Dyson tackles two problems: urban noise and air pollution.
Headphones with noise canceling and microphone
The headphones are equipped with advanced noise reduction and a microphone. This allows you to make phone calls or make voice recordings. It is also possible to control the Dyson Zone with voice.
Filters air particles down to 0.1 microns
The air purifier can filter up to 99% of polluted particles from the air, as small as 0.1 microns. There is also a carbon filter: this can be used to filter pollutants such as NO2 and SO2. “NO2 is one of the most common gaseous pollutants in cities, a by-product of combustion, with sources including traffic and construction,” said Dyson.
MyDyson-app
The Dyson Zone is equipped with a sensor that monitors the air quality. You can analyze this via the MyDyson app, where you can also get information about the noise levels in the environment.
50 hours of playback time and charged in 3 hours
Lithium-ion batteries can be found under the hood. The Dyson Zone has a playback time of 50 hours when used alone as headphones. If you also use the air purifier at the same time, the battery will last for 4 hours. The battery is fully charged in three hours. The battery can be charged via USB-C.
Dyson Zone price and release date
The Dyson Zone will only be available for pre-order in the United States from March. Shortly thereafter, the Dyson Zone will also be available via Dyson.com. In China, the Dyson Zone has been on sale since January. Whether and when the headphones with built-in air purifier will also appear in Europe is not yet known.
The Dyson Zone is priced at $949 USD.
