Air purifier manufacturer Coway has announced the construction of a new solar power plant at its subsidiary iOBED. The plant is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2023.

Annual capacity of 800 KWh

The solar power plant will be built on the roof of the iOBED building. An annual capacity of 800 KWh is estimated. Coway is collaborating with Shinsung E&G of South Korea to realize the construction and operation of the solar power plant.

Not Coway’s first solar power plant

It’s not Coway’s first step into the world of solar power plants. The company – which is known for its air purifiers, among other things – already has a solar power plant in its Yugu factory, Incheon factory, Pocheon factory and the Yugu distribution center.

“We expect to reduce GHG emissions by 470 tons annually through our new solar power plants”

Coway

Solar power plants are an important part of the company and its initiatives to minimize negative impact on the environment and enhance sustainability.

We expect to reduce GHG emissions by 470 tons annually through our new solar power plants. This is part of our ESG initiative that we’re dedicated to fulfilling in line with responsibility as an environmentally-friendly company”, said a Coway official.
